Sustainable Building for Golf Course and Resort Developments.

Earth sheltered buildings can be easily blended into the contours and aesthetics of a golf course or even hidden from view so that only nature is visible.

The graphics on this page were prepared for the developers of The Ocean Dunes golf course on King Island, who asked us to provide some sketches for their project.

Earth sheltered can be situated closer to the fairways because having no external walls there is less chance of them being damaged by errant golf shots. With clever design they could  even become part of the fairway with the golf being played on the top of the buildings. This could not only add to the complexity and challenge of the course but more importantly it could free up more of the available real estate to be used strictly for golf and so generate considerable savings on the overall  profits of the building project.

Many proposed golf courses are being challenged for their lack of environmental integrity and incorporating earth sheltered design into the project could allay some criticism and possibly give a project serious environmental kudos.
